Hello Groupon Students!
We are glad that you found Let's Dance Rochester! Also, we hope that we can provide support for your dance lessons. We have a Thursday night dance practice every week from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. All students are welcomed.

- About dress: We recommend comfortable attire. Please do not wear sneakers or shoes with rubber soles. For ladies, a shoe with a back or strap would be the preferred choice.
- The Music: Music is by request so that everyone can practice the dances that they are working on.
- This is a supportive time when you can chat with classmates and often get some help with steps.
- Remember that the dance practice is about having fun, meeting other students, and of course reinforcing what we learn in lessons. There is good research supportive of practicing soon after a lesson!

Wheelchair Dancing

Let's Dance Rochester is the first dance studio in the Greater Rochester, NY Area to bring wheelchair dancing to the disabled community. Wheelchair dancers may participae in combination with an able-bodied person or as a duo dance with two wheelchairs. Wheelchair dance we teach include:
Standard Dances – waltz, tango, viennese waltz, slow foxtrot, and quickstep.
Latin Dances – samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba, paso doble, and jive.

One of the best ways to look natural and confident on the dance floor is to give yourself the opportunity to practice steps from your lessons. Dance practice is very economical...both because it helps us learn faster and reduces lesson time spent on relearning material from a past lesson and, our dance practice itself is free (which is always nice) for Let's Dance Rochester students! Even short periods of practice between lessons is valuable in retaining information. The next practice session is tomorrow, Thursday the 28th from: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

We are receiving a number of requests for specific songs at the Thursday night practice. If you have a special request, we can play your number once and then we will continue to play the dance sequence from a "party night" album. Currently, we are producing albums that cover all the dances that our students are working on in their lessons. So, you will hear "your" music, but not several times in succession ;-)

While this is a good opportunity to work through lesson material, we can also incorporate dance practice as an enjoyable way to get more exercise. :-) Each week we are seeing more people attend, some for the whole evening, others for a short time to review specific steps. Either way, you are welcome to come as your schedule allows.

We are all busy and if you are like me, you may have to set an alarm; write on the calendar; and, ask a friend to remind you of an event because the email notice came several days earlier and a lot has happened since then. Well, maybe not everyone needs all these reminders but, just in case it helps, tonight is Dance Practice Night for Students at the Let's Dance Rochester Studio! Come to dance, meet up with old friends and newer students...practice tonight and go out dancing on the week end!

Attending an Open House and Showcase is a great way to meet old and new studio friends; enjoy watching the progress of students; and, to get out on the floor with everyone for a relaxing evening of social dancing! The March 10th Open House and Showcase accomplished all of this! Showcase dances were performed by: Josephine & Ben (Cha Cha Cha), John & Marina (Viennese Waltz), Pam & Ben (Tango), Elaine & Ben (Waltz).
